Ladies and Gentlemen...we have our first tie...

The first round of the 40's Era in our Favorite Classic Musical Film Tournament has just wrapped up with no major surprises. Top seed Yankee Doodle Dandy beat 16th seed Pin Up Girl 12-8. In fact every lower ranked film won their respective matches with the exception of 6th seed Till The Clouds Roll By losing to 11th seed Holiday Inn. And we also had our first tie as The Harvey Girls and Anchors Aweigh finished their match at 8-8. So I will have a tie-breaker question set up to declare a winner. We can't go any further until we have a winner. First though is the complete scores of all the matches:

YANKEE DOODLE DANDY beat PIN UP GIRL 12-8
EASTER PARADE beat COVER GIRL 15-8
ON THE TOWN beat STORMY WEATHER 16-4
GOING MY WAY beat BATHING BEAUTY 11-8
FOR ME AND MY GAL beat YOU'LL NEVER GET RICH 11-10
MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS beat ZIEGFELD GIRL 18-5
HOLIDAY INN beat TILL THE CLOUDS ROLL BY 16-5
THE HARVEY GIRLS tied ANCHORS AWEIGH 8-8

So now on to the tie-breaker question for The Harvey Girls and Anchors Aweigh...Which star contributed more to the success of their respective film: Judy Garland or Gene Kelly? The poll will be up until Sunday evening 8pm EST and whichever film wins the match will move on to the next round, which will
begin Monday morning. How exciting.
